Azerbaijan, Iran discuss strengthening economic cooperation
Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev held a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mojtaba Demirchilou to review and advance the economic ties between the two neighbouring countries.
According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, the two officials discussed the current state of Azerbaijan–Iran economic cooperation, placing emphasis on deepening bilateral engagement across multiple sectors.
During the talks, both sides highlighted the importance of further developing collaboration in trade, investment, transportation, energy, and infrastructure. They agreed on the necessity of accelerating the implementation of previously signed agreements and making better use of the considerable untapped economic potential between the two nations.
Particular attention was given to enhancing cross-border cooperation and simplifying operations within free economic zones. The officials also discussed increasing bilateral trade turnover and expediting the completion of joint infrastructure projects, including transport corridors, logistics hubs, and border crossing points.
