Wildberries looking for warehouse space in Kazakhstan Following large-scale drone strikes on Russian infrastructure

Wildberries has begun searching for vacant warehouse facilities in Kazakhstan and is ready to occupy all available unused warehouse space in the country, sources told Kommersant newspaper.

The additional space is needed by RWB, the company that operates the Wildberries marketplace, after a series of large-scale drone attacks on Russian facilities. The group may now redirect part of sellers’ goods to Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, warehouse owners in Russia are reluctant to lease facilities to Wildberries due to high risks.

In Kazakhstan, construction is underway on a facility of more than 100,000 square meters in Almaty. Another facility with an area of 160,000 square meters is being built in Astana, with its launch scheduled for next year.

The company said that all current organisational efforts are focused on redistributing goods among various warehouses to ensure more efficient inventory turnover and strengthen the economic stability of its partners.

Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer and marketplace founded in 2004 by Tatyana Kim, has faced large-scale drone attacks on its warehouses since July 18, with affected facilities including logistics parks in St. Petersburg, the Moscow region, Crimea, the Tambov and Voronezh regions, as well as the Stavropol and Krasnodar territories.
