Workplace accidents claim 63 lives in Kyrgyzstan in 2025
In 2025, Kyrgyzstan recorded 63 fatalities and 161 injuries among workers as a result of accidents at workplaces, including 94 people who sustained serious injuries, the country's Service for Control and Supervision of Labour Legislation said in a statement.
The Service said that 28 inspectors conducted 1,173 labour inspections over the year, identifying 1,885 violations of labour legislation. Mandatory enforcement orders were issued following the inspections, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
Fines imposed totalled 8.838 million soms ($718), of which 6.936 million soms ($563) have been collected. Compensation to the families of deceased workers reached 111 million soms, while total wages owed to employees amounted to 14.726 million soms ($1,200).
In addition, the Service carried out 120 judicial expert assessments, 236 occupational safety training events, processed 1,306 written citizen appeals, and provided 6,541 oral consultations.
Officials emphasised that systematic oversight of labour law compliance is aimed at protecting workers’ rights, improving labour discipline, and ensuring workplace safety.
