WP: White House authorizes deployment of migrants at US borders on busy days

After weeks of protracted negotiations, the White House proposed to allow border services to turn migrants at US borders without checking documents on particularly busy days.

It is not specified what exactly the number of crossings is meant.

Republican Senator Thom Tillis, who participated in the discussions, proposed a maximum limit of 3,000 people, and some Democrats call the number 5,000, The Washington Post reports.

The number of illegal border crossings between the US and Mexico has risen to a record high this year.
