Zelensky says Ukraine to receive €90 billion EU aid by late spring
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Kyiv expects to receive the first tranche of European assistance, amounting to €90 billion, by late May or early June.
Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of adopting the European Union’s 20th sanctions package against Russia, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
He further referred to continued strikes on Russia’s oil infrastructure, which he said are inflicting significant economic damage. According to him, despite revenues from oil exports—including in the context of what he described as the “war in Iran”—Russia will be unable to balance its state budget deficit. He added that losses resulting from attacks on Russian oil infrastructure are already estimated in the tens of billions of dollars.
Separately, Zelenskyy addressed regional security concerns, pointing to potential risks involving Belarus. He said he believes Russia has “many unrealistic and dangerous ideas” and expressed hope that Belarus would not be drawn into their implementation.
“That is precisely why we strongly hope Belarus is not drawn into such fantastical notions and that they do not materialise into a grave reality,” the Ukrainian president said.
