Zelenskyy warns Trump remarks on Greenland may divert attention from Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concern that international attention could shift away from the conflict in Ukraine due to recent statements by US President Donald Trump regarding potential control over Greenland.
Speaking to journalists online, Zelenskyy said any “distractions” during a full-scale war are worrying, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
“We are in a full-scale war. There is a specific aggressor and specific victims. The focus must be solely on pressuring Russia and strengthening Ukraine. There are no other tools to end the war,” he stressed.
The president also noted that the Greenland situation is not interchangeable with the conflict in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy expressed hope that the US would consider Europe’s position through diplomatic channels and emphasised respect for Denmark’s sovereignty.
“I very much hope that America will hear Europe through diplomacy. I believe it will happen, and no major threats will arise,” he said.
Amid the ongoing full-scale war, Zelenskyy continues to focus on managing Ukraine’s security and energy challenges from Kyiv.
He has underscored that international attention must remain firmly on the conflict, warning that any diversion—whether through political statements, media focus, or high-profile events—could undermine the country’s efforts to counter Russian aggression.
This careful prioritisation extends to international forums such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, where the president has indicated that he will only participate if it produces tangible outcomes for Ukraine’s strategic needs.
