Zelenskyy’s chief of staff resigns amid anti-corruption raid
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, has resigned following an anti-corruption raid on his home in Kyiv.
Yermak, 54, has been Zelenskyy’s closest adviser throughout Russia’s full-scale invasion, playing a pivotal role in shaping Ukraine’s diplomatic and strategic responses. While he has come under increasing scrutiny amid a corruption scandal, he has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing, BBC reports.
Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities raided Yermak’s apartment in Kyiv’s government district on November 28. Yermak responded on social media, stating that “from my side there is full co-operation.”
In an address from Kyiv on November 28, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Yermak’s service, particularly highlighting his role in negotiations. “I’m grateful to Andriy that Ukraine’s position on the negotiating track was always presented as required: it was always a patriotic position,” the president said.
Zelenskyy emphasized the need for stability amid the ongoing war and diplomatic efforts, noting, “But I want there to be no rumours and speculation. Regarding a new office head, tomorrow I’ll hold consultations with those who might lead this institution. When all the attention is focused on diplomacy and the defence in a war, inner strength is required.”
Yermak had recently been appointed to lead crucial negotiations, with US President Donald Trump spearheading a new initiative to broker a resolution to the conflict with Russia.
