Baku students visit Orthodox Church as part of multiculturalism policy PHOTO
A group of undergraduates of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, accompanied by a teacher, have visited the Church of St. Archangel Michael of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The excursion’s purpose was to inform the students about the traditional religions of Azerbaijan, the life of traditional religious communities, and the basic principles and values of the Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism, Caliber.Az reports, quoting a source in the temple.
As part of his acquaintance with the Orthodox Church, the rector of the church, Archpriest Methodius (Afandiyev), told the students about the history of the oldest church in the diocese and about its life at the present stage, about the foundations of Christianity, the organization of an Orthodox church, about interreligious dialogue and relations with representatives of other communities, about various projects implemented by the parish, and also answered the questions asked.
At the end of the meeting, the church’s rector presented the guests with the books "Bible History" and "Orthodox Catechism" translated into Azerbaijani.
