Iranian president instructs to investigate attack on Azerbaijani embassy

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on January 27 ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran.

 The Raisi administration condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased employee of the diplomatic mission, according to the Fars agency.

"We condemn the tragic incident with the attack on the embassy of the neighboring and fraternal Republic of Azerbaijan," the Iranian president was quoted as saying.

An armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran was committed on January 27 morning. The attacker broke through to the security post of the diplomatic mission and killed the head of the security service by using a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Two embassy security guards were also injured while repelling the attack. Their health condition is satisfactory. The attacker on the Azerbaijani embassy was detained.
