Russia dismisses new sanctions as ineffective, predictable
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has asserted that Russia has become adept at managing the impact of Western sanctions, rendering further punitive measures ineffective.
“We have long since adapted to sanctions. We now anticipate their imposition and have developed strategies to mitigate their impact accordingly. This has become a learned and routine process for us,” Peskov remarked, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
He added, “Attempting to intimidate us with sanctions is a futile gesture — it no longer carries weight.”
Peskov's comments reflect a broader sentiment within the Russian government that sanctions have become a persistent, albeit ineffective, tool used by Western nations. He noted that the West's inability to find new avenues for sanctions is indicative of their diminishing impact.
This perspective aligns with previous statements from Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, who have expressed confidence in Russia's ability to withstand and adapt to Western sanctions. The Kremlin maintains that the Russian economy has shown resilience and continues to develop despite external pressures.
