CNN Türk reveals how PKK plans to hand over its weapons
The militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which officially declared its disbandment following a congress, will surrender their weapons under the supervision of international observers and the UN representatives, as part of a three-stage peaceful transition plan.
Designated weapons surrender points have been set up in several cities across northern Iraq, where the PKK has long maintained hideouts, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media outlet CNN Türk.
These locations include Amadiya and Kani Masi in the Dohuk province, Binar and Qoysanjaq in Erbil, and Raniya and Said Sadiq in Sulaymaniyah.
The announcement of PKK dissolution follows a directive from the group's incarcerated leader, Abdullah Öcalan, and was officially confirmed at the PKK's 12th Congress, held from May 5 to 7, 2025.
