Caucasus Muslim Board: Iran responsible for terror attack on Azerbaijani embassy
Iran is responsible for the terrorist attack at the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran.
The plenipotentiary representative of the Caucasus Muslim Board, theologian Haji Shahin Hasanli, made the remarks while commenting on the attack, Report informs.
He recalled that the territories of Azerbaijani embassies in foreign countries are considered the territory of Azerbaijan: "Our hero became a martyr, defending his territory. We pray for the repose of his soul. This terrorist attack caused outrage among the Azerbaijani people. This happens very rarely. The entire responsibility for this insidious attack lies with the Iranian side. The Azerbaijani people demand a thorough investigation of the incident and punishment of the criminal."
It should be recalled that an armed attack took place on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran on the morning of January 27. The attacker broke into the security post of the diplomatic mission and killed the head of the security service with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Two embassy security officers were injured while repelling the attack. Their condition is satisfactory. The attacker was detained by an Azerbaijani embassy staffer.
On January 29, employees of the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran and their family members were evacuated to Baku. The activity of the diplomatic mission has been completely suspended.
