Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan air force chiefs discuss defence cooperation
A high-level Azerbaijani military delegation has held talks in Uzbekistan to strengthen bilateral defence ties, particularly in the fields of air force and air defence.
The delegation, led by Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, Deputy Defence Minister and Commander of the Azerbaijani Air Force, visited Uzbekistan at the invitation of Major General Ahmad Burkhanov, Commander of Uzbekistan’s Air and Air Defence Forces, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry.
During the visit, Lieutenant General Islamzade held meetings with Uzbekistan’s Defence Minister, Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhammedov, as well as his Uzbek counterpart, Major General Burkhanov.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence, the discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of military cooperation between the two countries. Both sides underlined the importance of such reciprocal visits for exchanging expertise in military aviation and air defence.
The Azerbaijani delegation also toured the Chirchik airfield and a local military unit, where they were briefed on the operational conditions and facilities at Uzbekistan’s defence enterprises.
