Azerbaijan sympathises with Austria over deadly school shooting
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has expressed condolences to Austria over the fatal shooting at the secondary school in Graz, Austria.
“We are saddened by the tragic shooting at the secondary school in Graz, Austria, that has claimed the lives of innocent students and teachers,” the Ministry said in a message published on its X page, Caliber.Az reports.
The message added: “We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Austria.”
“We wish a swift and full recovery for those who have been injured,” the Ministry stressed.
On June 10, 2025, a tragic mass shooting occurred at BORG Dreierschützengasse, a secondary school in Graz, Austria. According to multiple news reports, the incident resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people, including the suspected perpetrator, who is believed to have died by suicide. The attack took place around 10:00 AM local time (4:00 AM EDT), with the shooter, reportedly a 22-year-old former student, opening fire in at least two classrooms using a legally owned pistol and shotgun.
According to Austrian media, up to 28-30 people were injured in the incident. At least 12 others were hospitalised, with two in critical condition and five with serious injuries, overwhelming Graz hospitals.
