Sakharov Foundation, Meduza among undesirable organisations in Russia

The Russian Ministry of Justice has announced that the list of undesirable foreign and international non-governmental organisations includes two more organisations, namely, The Andrei Sakharov Foundation (US) and “Medusa Project” (Latvia, recognised as a foreign agent).

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office recognised The Andrei Sakharov Foundation, located in the US, as an undesirable organisation on January 23, the Russian Ministry of Justice.

The US organisation has been affiliated with the Russian Sakharov Foundation, the Sakharov Centre (recognised as a foreign agent) and the Berlin Sakharov-Centrum.

The Andrei Sakharov Foundation was founded in the US in 1989, and in the US in 1990.

Meduza was declared an undesirable organisation by the Prosecutor General's Office on January 26. The Prosecutor General's Office said that Meduza’s activity "poses a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and the security of the Russian Federation".
