PM: Opening routes via Azerbaijan to boost Armenia's trade with Eurasian Economic Union

08 February 2023 17:47

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that establishing economic relations and opening transport routes in the region will greatly increase Armenia's trade with other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Pashinyan made the remarks during a meeting in the National Assembly while commenting on the results of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Caliber.Az reports.

He noted that there is only one overland route between Armenia and other member states of the EAEU, which passes through Georgia.

Pashinyan said that it is clear that the possibilities are limited, respectively, the opening of rail routes and routes by vehicles through Azerbaijan would greatly increase trade volumes between Armenia and the EAEU.

“This shows Armenia's interest in the restoration of routes. Armenia is ready to implement the clauses of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020,” he added.
