Azerbaijani Army holds Novruz holiday events

Several Novruz holiday events have been held in some troops, the Combined Arms Army, Army Corps, formations and special educational institutions of the Azerbaijani Army in accordance with the plan approved by Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.

At the events, the memory of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, and martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Motherland, was honoured by observing a minute of silence, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan accompanied by a military orchestra was performed.

The graves of martyrs were visited by the military personnel, the servicemen visited the families of the martyrs and wounded, inquired about their concerns, presented holiday gifts.

At the meetings, the statement was made that Azerbaijan always pays tribute to the memory of martyrs, pays great attention to their families and relatives and cares about them.

Speakers at the festive events emphasised that the coming of spring is celebrated joyfully and solemnly in Azerbaijan, and spoke about the history of Novruz traditions. The Novruz holiday, which is one of the national and spiritual values, is highly appreciated by Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people.

During the events, concert programmes were demonstrated at the festive events in the presence of the teams of the Army Ideological and Cultural Centre named after Hazi Aslanov, the Ideological and Cultural Centre of the Ganja Garrison, culture and art representatives, as well as teams of regional cultural departments.
