Blinken: Azerbaijan, Armenia may soon agree on peace
Azerbaijan and Armenia may soon reach peace agreements.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made the remarks during a speech at a hearing in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, TASS reports.
"And I think there is a favuorable opportunity, I don't want to exaggerate it, but a favourable opportunity that allows us to actually complete the preparation of a peace agreement," he said, commenting on Washington's attempts to promote normalisation between Baku and Yerevan.
"This year I met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Munich at a security conference.
The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia have been in Washington relatively recently. I expect them to come back. We have been working on the text of the agreement," Blinken said.
