Yerevan daily: PM cancels meeting with Chisinau's Armenian community

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who arrived in the Moldovan capital on May 31, has cancelled his meeting with the Armenian community of Chisinau.

The head of the Armenian community in Chisinau, Venera Mushegh, made the statement, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Yerevan-based daily Hraparak.

According to Mushegh, the meeting was to be held on June 2.

The Armenian community head said that she was not aware of the reason for the cancellation of the meeting, but gave some details.

"My name was first on the list of participants in the meeting as a diaspora leader. But then my name was crossed out, saying that I should not attend the event. I replied that I was representing Armenians here and I had questions for him (the Armenian Prime Minister - ed.). Why shouldn't I participate?" Mushegh noted.

According to the head of the Armenian community in Chisinau, she warned that no one should try to stop her, even if someone considered her participation in the meeting unacceptable.

"About an hour ago I received a phone call saying that there would be no meeting," she added.

According to the schedule of his visit to the Moldovan capital, the Armenian prime minister will participate in the second summit of the European political community. Bilateral talks with international partners are planned on the sidelines of the summit.

Chisinau will also host a five-sided meeting between the Armenian prime minister, the French president, the German chancellor, the president of the European Council and the Azerbaijani president.
