17 dead, 50 injured in train derailment in Iran UPDATED

A total of 17 passengers were killed and 50 injured after a train derailed in the northeastern Tabas city of Iran, on 8 June.

The train was travelling from the north-eastern city of Mashhad to Yazd in central Iran when several wagons derailed, the Iranian state news agency IRIB reports. 

According to a police commander of Tabas, "so far the number of deaths has been reported about 17 people, but due to the fact that the rescue forces are checking other parts of the train, the figures are changing".
