US to work to achieve lasting peace in region – New ambassador to Azerbaijan

Newly appointed US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mark Libby has said in a video address that his country will work to achieve lasting peace in the region and he would like to witness further development of Azerbaijan.

He noted that he is looking forward to starting his tenure as the 11th US ambassador to Azerbaijan, Report informs.

Mark Libby emphasised that the US embassy has supported Azerbaijan since 1991, since its gaining independence.

"Over 32 years, we have seen amazing changes. We will try to achieve lasting peace in the region and want to witness even more development in Azerbaijan. I had the opportunity to walk around Baku, see its majestic places, Icharishahar with its historical past, the magnificent architecture of the Heydar Aliyev Centre. I would like to get to know these places better," the ambassador noted.
