Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The document states that the OIC Parliamentary Union will continue contributing to strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, promoting shared values, and fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and joint action in addressing global challenges.
The declaration emphasises that the Palestinian issue remains central to the Islamic world. It also expresses deep concern over the rising levels of Islamophobia globally. Participants strongly condemned all acts of violence based on religion or belief, hate speech, and extremism driven by religious discrimination.
The session called on the international community to take effective measures at both national and global levels to combat extremism, hate speech, defamation of religions, negative stereotyping, and the stigmatisation of individuals based on religion, belief, or ethnicity.
The Baku Declaration also highlights the importance of achieving a fair, sustainable, and long-term resolution to the Cyprus issue through dialogue.
It further welcomed the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that its provisions will be implemented and will contribute to regional and international peace and security.
