Azerbaijan's victory was awaited across Turkic world, MP says
Azerbaijan's victory was awaited across the Turkic world for 30 years, Rizvan Nabiyev, a member of the Azerbaijani Milli Mejlis (Parliament), has stated.
Speaking at the forum Turkmen Heritage: Solidarity of Civil Societies, he said that after the war, the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity was an event eagerly anticipated throughout the Turkic world, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“It was not only us who waited 30 years for Azerbaijan's victory. The entire Turkic world and our Turkic brothers were waiting for this victory,” he noted.
According to him, ties between the Azerbaijani people and Turkmens extend far beyond official diplomacy, with cultural interaction playing a key role in strengthening friendship between the two peoples.
Nabiyev also proposed expanding the geography of such forums, suggesting that similar events be held in Iraq and Syria, home to large Turkmen communities.
He added that a forum could be held in Iraq, in Baghdad or Kirkuk, as early as this autumn, with the support of local organisations and civil society institutions.
