President of Somalia visits Türkiye

Ankara has hosted an official welcome ceremony for Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, who arrived on an official visit to Türkiye.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met his Somali counterpart at the entrance of the Presidential Complex, according to Anadolu Agency. 

The national anthems of the two countries were played.

Mahmoud welcomed the formation of the guard of honour.

A total of 16 flags were hung at the Presidential Complex - according to the number of Turkic countries that have existed throughout history.

Representatives of the state and government of Türkiye were introduced to the President of Somalia, and members of the Somali delegation were introduced to the head of the Turkish state.

Further negotiations started in a one-on-one format and in an expanded format.
