Activists briefly display arrest photo of Prince Andrew at Louvre VIDEO

23 February 2026 16:26

Activists mounted a photo of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at the Louvre museum in Paris, days after the former royal’s arrest, in a move intended to show “how the world will remember him.”

The UK-based anti-billionaire group Everyone Hates Elon hung the framed photo on a museum wall, alongside a caption reading: “He’s Sweating Now.” The image shows Mountbatten-Windsor slumped in the back seat of a Range Rover after leaving a Norfolk police station, where he had spent 11 hours in custody following his arrest on February 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office, Reuters reports.

On Instagram, the group shared a video of the display, captioned: “They say ‘hang it in the Louvre’. So we did.” Another video shows museum visitors laughing and taking pictures of the image before it was removed by Louvre staff after 15 minutes.

“We thought we’d show the former Prince Andrew how the world will remember him by putting up this iconic arrest photo at the Louvre,” the group told Reuters. “Let’s hope this is just the start. Justice for all Epstein survivors.”

The photograph of Mountbatten-Windsor leaving police custody has been widely reproduced in newspapers around the world.

Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested after the US government released millions of documents linked to the paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, including alleged emails showing him sharing confidential information while serving as a British trade envoy. He has denied any wrongdoing and has previously said he regrets his friendship with Epstein.
