Air traffic controllers on strike in France
In France, air traffic controllers went on strike at the call of the National Association of Air Traffic Controllers (SNCTA).
Due to the strike, different airline companies, including Turkish Airlines (THY), cancelled many round-trip flights to France, TRT Haber reports.
Air traffic controllers are demanding swift steps to recruit new staff to replace workers who will retire in the coming years and to raise wages against inflation.
While it was observed that Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport was less crowded than on other days, it was pointed out on the flight boards at the airport that many delays and flight cancellations were expected due to the national strike in air traffic control.
The General Directorate of Civil Aviation, in a statement on Twitter on September 13, stated that serious delays and flight cancellations were expected due to the strike.
French Airlines company Air France, on the other hand, announced on September 16 that it will carry out only 45 per cent of its short and medium-haul flights, and 90 per cent of its long-haul flights.
Air France stated that it would pay a premium of 1000 euros to its employees in October against inflation and that it would gradually increase salaries by 5 per cent in the coming months.
