Airlines set new standards for passengers’ dress codes
Fox News unveils in its article that airlines are taking a firmer stance on dress codes, with new policies aimed at ensuring passengers maintain appropriate attire while flying.
Recently, Spirit Airlines introduced a new dress code policy following several high-profile incidents where passengers were removed from flights due to their clothing choices.
Under the new guidelines, passengers can be removed from flights if they are "barefoot or improperly dressed (e.g., see-through clothing, insufficient coverage, exposed breasts, buttocks, or other private areas), or if their attire or body art is deemed lewd, obscene, or offensive."
Hawaiian Airlines' contract of carriage specifies that passengers are not allowed to wear bathing suits and that "clothing must cover the upper torso."
Hawaiian Airlines stated that while shorts are acceptable, "speedos and bikini bottoms" are not permitted. Additionally, passengers are not allowed to travel barefoot.
"In all cases, clothing must not be lewd, obscene or patently offensive to others," said Hawaiian Airlines.
Southwest Airlines requires passengers to avoid clothing that is "lewd, obscene, or blatantly offensive" and mandates that shoes be worn at all times.
Like Southwest, United Airlines has a relatively relaxed dress code. Their contract of carriage simply states that passengers must be "properly clothed."
Clothing must not be "lewd, obscene, or offensive," and passengers are required to wear shoes.
American Airlines' code of conduct doesn't outline specific prohibitions, but it states that passengers must "dress appropriately" and that bare feet or offensive clothing are not permitted.
Delta's code of conduct does not include a specific dress code.
It states that passengers may be removed if their "behavior, clothing, hygiene, or odor causes an unreasonable risk of offense or discomfort to other passengers."
According to its website, Qatar Airways enforces a dress code for passengers traveling in business class and higher.
"Depending on your destination, there are different rules and regulations regarding the type of clothing you should wear. The dress code is designed to ensure passengers' comfort and safety while traveling, so it is important to understand the rules before departing," said Qatar Airways.
The dress code requires business class passengers to wear "smart casual" attire and prohibits shorts, sportswear, and "overly revealing clothing."
"Passengers should pay attention to the dress code when traveling in business class, as it will ensure their comfort and respect for other passengers," said Qatar Airways.
