The Islamic Republic of Iran continues to expand the conflict by attacking not only its neighbors in the Middle East, but also by targeting Türkiye.
Once again, NATO has demonstrated its remarkable ability and swift response in protecting and defending its Allies.
🇦🇱…
On March 13, Turkish and NATO air‑defence forces intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Iran that entered Turkish airspace, shooting it down before it could cause damage or casualties. The Turkish Defence Ministry reported the incident near İncirlik Air Base, a key NATO facility in southern Türkiye, and Ankara formally sought clarification from Tehran over the launch.
The missile launch marked the third such Iranian missile intercepted over Turkish territory in ten days, in the context of a wider regional war triggered by ongoing US‑Israel operations against Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory strikes across the Middle East.
Turkish officials stressed they were defending national airspace and avoiding escalation, while NATO reaffirmed its operational readiness and commitment to protect alliance members against external threats.
