Armenia explores military education collaboration with NATO Defense College
Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Edvard Asryan has discussed with the head of NATO Defense College (NDC) Lt-Gen Max Arthur Nielsen the possibilities and prospects of cooperation in the field of education.
“On December 10-11, senior students of the NATO Defense College led by the head of the educational institution Lieutenant General Max Arthur Nielsen visited Armenia. The delegation was received by Lieutenant General Edvard Asryan, First Deputy Minister of Defense, Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. The sides discussed opportunities and prospects of cooperation in the sphere of military education,” said the Armenian Defence Ministry's press service, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
On December 11, Nielsen visited the National Research University of the Armenian Defense Ministry, where he was presented with the programs of the educational institution.
Notably, according to Armenian media, on December 10-11, representatives from the 145th Senior Course of the NATO Defense College, led by Lieutenant General Nielsen, visited Armenia.
The NDC's mission is to contribute to the effectiveness and cohesion of the Alliance primarily through senior-level education, on transatlantic security issues, enabled by research on matters relevant to the Alliance, and supported by engagement with Allies, Partners and Non-NATO Entities (NNEs), with a 360 degrees approach.
Besides, the College seeks to develop critical, creative, and strategic thinking on the key issues facing the Alliance. In line with the NDC aim, the NDC has a primary objective to provide military and civilian officials with senior-leader education on NATO issues while developing multi-national consensus-building skills and enhancing Alliance cohesion by providing networking opportunities in a multi-cultural setting.
