Armenia's Chief of General Staff joins NATO meeting on global threats in Brussels
A delegation led by Armenia's First Deputy Minister of Defence, Chief of the General Staff, Lt-Gen Edvard Asryan, has left on a working visit for Brussels, where it will stay from January 15 to 17.
The delegation is expected to participate in the meeting of the NATO Military Committee in the format of chiefs of defence staff from NATO member states and partners, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
According to the Armenian Ministry of Defence press service, the purpose of the meeting is to raise awareness of current global and regional threats and challenges, as well as to find collective solutions for their mitigation.
The discussions will cover issues related to the resilience of critical infrastructure in the face of climate change, widespread instability, new and disruptive technologies, hybrid and cyber threats, as well as the involvement of partner countries in NATO-led operations and missions.
On January 15-16, 2025, NATO's highest Military Authority, the Military Committee, is holding the 192nd Chiefs of Defence Session at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. The meeting focuses on strengthening the Alliance's deterrence and defence capabilities, enhancing NATO's global partnerships, and supporting Ukraine in its ongoing resistance against Russia’s unprovoked aggression. Allied Chiefs of Defence are engaging with military authorities from NATO Partner countries to address global instability and explore ways to collaboratively respond to these challenges.
