Armenia’s security chief briefs EU on Washington Declaration, peace efforts
Armenia’s Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, has met with a delegation from the European Union to discuss regional cooperation and the Washington Declaration, signed earlier this year.
The delegation was led by Audrone Perkauskiene is the Deputy Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the European External Action Service (EEAS), and Adrienn Kiraly, Director for Eastern Neighbourhood and Institution Building at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Grigoryan welcomed the visit, stressing the importance of the Armenia–EU partnership, which he said is built on shared values.
At the request of the EU officials, he presented the Washington Declaration signed on August 8, outlining its key principles and the economic opportunities expected to arise from the reopening of regional transport links.
The meeting also covered recent developments in the normalisation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Both sides exchanged views on the current agenda of bilateral cooperation and discussed ongoing joint programmes.
