Armenian expert: Iran should take symmetrical steps in response to Haniyeh's assassination
In response to the assassination of Palestinian Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Armenian military expert Hayk Nagapetyan has advised Iran to avoid asymmetric actions and prevent escalation into war.
Nagapetyan emphasized that Iran's response should be symmetrical and targeted, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"The steps taken by Iran should be symmetrical, i.e., the Iranian side should organize assassinations of high-ranking Israeli officials - Netanyahu or the head of the IDF," Nagapetyan stated.
He warned that any provocative actions by Tehran could lead to a large-scale conflict involving multiple nations, including Türkiye, Russia, and the United States.
Nagapetyan further suggested that Iran's involvement in such a war would serve the interests of Britain and Israel, rather than the United States.
"And the British will quietly watch all this from their island," he added, highlighting the geopolitical complexities of the situation.
Haniyeh, who was in Tehran for the Iranian president’s swearing-in ceremony, was killed on July 31 by an aerial projectile at his residence. Following the assassination, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei vowed a "harsh response," declaring it Iran’s duty to avenge Haniyeh’s blood.
