Armenian, Georgian parliamentary speakers agree to hold bilateral meeting
The Speakers of the Armenian and Georgian parliaments have agreed to hold a bilateral meeting shortly.
The agreement emerged following a telephone conversation between Armenia’s Alen Simonyan and Georgia’s Shalva Papuashvili, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
During the call, the two officials also discussed the prospects for enhancing regional cooperation.
This development comes amid increasingly active high-level engagement between Yerevan and Tbilisi in recent months. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze have exchanged informal visits, attending national football team matches in each other’s countries.
The last official Georgian visit to Armenia occurred in July 2024 when Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani travelled to Yerevan. In September of the same year, Prime Minister Pashinyan and Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan visited Tbilisi.
