Armenian official questions willingness to fight for Azerbaijani settlements Amid Tavush border tensions
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office Taron Chakhoyan has sparked debate with his recent Facebook post questioning the readiness of individuals to defend Azerbaijani settlements amid tensions along the Tavush (Tovuzgala) border.
In his social media message, Chakhoyan raised poignant questions about the true commitment of those opposing the establishment of the state border and their preparedness to endure the consequences of potential conflict, Caliber.Az reports.
"Is Kheyrimli or Gizil Hajili the homeland of those who fight against the state border in Tavush? Or maybe Ashaghi Askipara?" Chakhoyan wrote, prompting reflection on the motives and responsibilities of individuals involved in border disputes.
Chakhoyan's post further delved into the broader implications of military action, questioning whether dissenters would be willing to sacrifice their loved ones and bear the harsh realities of war. He emphasized that the consequences of conflict would affect all citizens, particularly local villagers and ordinary soldiers, urging the necessity of political will and determination to prevent escalation.
"Not hired propagandists, but all of us will bear the consequences of the war," Chakhoyan stressed, drawing attention to the collective responsibility in maintaining peace and stability in the region. He underscored the importance of neutralizing factors that could lead to conflict, highlighting the lessons learned from past experiences, particularly in the context of the Karabakh conflict.
Chakhoyan's remarks shed light on the complexities surrounding border disputes and the need for cautious diplomacy and conflict resolution efforts to prevent further escalation. As tensions persist along the Tavush border, such discussions underscore the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in addressing underlying grievances and fostering lasting peace in the region.
“No one will save us, Karabakh is a vivid example of this," the official posted.
