Armenian PM calls for peacefull life with neighbours without external support
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan continues to post updates on his social media pages.
"Peace is the ability to live surrounded by neighbours without external support," Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook account, per Caliber.Az.
Notably, Azerbaijan and Armenia have been engaged in efforts to normalize relations and establish a lasting peace following decades of conflict over the Karabakh region. The pursuit of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia has encountered several significant obstacles. A major impediment is the territorial claims embedded in Armenia's constitution. Azerbaijan has identified these claims as the "main obstacle" to finalizing a peace treaty, asserting that Armenia's constitutional references to territories liberated by Azerbaijan hinder the normalization process.
Another issue is the lack of a clear demarcation of borders between the two nations. Disputes over small enclaves and the precise delineation of borders have complicated negotiations. The rapid militarization of Armenia and the presence of revanchist rhetoric within Armenian political and social circles have been cited as complicating factors by the Azerbaijani government. These developments have raised concerns about Armenia's commitment to peace and have complicated the negotiation process.
