Armenian top diplomat reveals forthcoming visit of Iranian counterpart to Yerevan
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has announced that his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit the country.
During the parliamentary committee hearing, Mirzoyan announced the forthcoming visit but did not specify the exact dates, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
He also shared that he had the opportunity to meet with Araghchi in Geneva in February, further indicating the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
“In February this year I had the opportunity to meet minister Araghchi in Geneva,” Mirzoyan told lawmakers.
“And contacts are expected again soon. We expect minister Araghchi in Yerevan in the near future,” Mirzoyan said.
“At every opportunity, we emphasize how important and how much we appreciate Iran's position on the territorial integrity of Armenia, the inviolability of its borders,” the FM stated.
“The 18th meeting of the intergovernmental joint commission of Armenia and Iran was held in Iran, Defence Minister Suren Papikyan paid an official visit to Iran, I myself have had two meetings with the Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi. A delegation, led by Iran's First Vice President [Mohammad Reza] Aref, visited Armenia at the invitation of the prime minister within the framework of the regular meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council," Mirzoyan added.
