Arte France regrets publishing map without Armenia in recent broadcast PHOTO
The French television channel Arte France issued an apology after airing a map of Türkiye and the South Caucasus region that omitted Armenia during its "28 Minutes" program.
Journalist Krikor Amirzanyan was cited by Armenian media in reporting the development, per Caliber.Az.
The host of the program, Élisabeth Quin, offered an apology for the incident, explaining that it was a collective mistake. She emphasized that the program's creators deeply regret what occurred. Quin thanked the viewers for their understanding and reassured them that there was no malicious intent behind the error.
The controversy stemmed from a segment on "28 Minutes" discussing protests in Türkiye. The map shown in the report highlighted all countries in the region, except Armenia, which was instead depicted as part of Azerbaijan. This sparked a strong reaction on social media, with responses from users, public organizations, and the media.
The Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations in France (CCAF) condemned the omission, stating that 110 years after the Armenian "genocide," Arte France was effectively realizing the pan-Turkic dream by erasing Armenia from the world map. The French magazine "Hayastan," which covers Armenian issues, also expressed its dissatisfaction and called for an apology from Arte.
