ASTRA: Chemical plant ablaze in Russia's Tolyatti after explosions PHOTO
A large-scale fire has broken out at the chemical plant “KuibyshevAzot” in Tolyatti, Russia, after an apparent attack, according to an open source intelligence (OSINT) analysis conducted by ASTRA using eyewitness footage.
The Tolyatti residents reported a series of explosions in the early morning of March 11, with thick smoke visible over the city. ASTRA analysts examined a photo shared by the Ukrainian channel Exilenova+, taken from Gorky Street, and concluded with high probability that the fire is at the KuibyshevAzot plant. Nearby, another major industrial facility, Tolyattikauchuk, also lies in the area, though there are no immediate reports of damage there.
KuibyshevAzot, one of Russia’s leading chemical companies, specialises in the production of caprolactam and its derivatives and is among the country’s largest producers of nitrogen fertilisers, according to its official website. The scale of the fire and its potential impact on production remain unclear.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
