ASTRA: Drone strike hits major Russian chemical plant, sparks fire, injures civilian PHOTO / VIDEO
A major chemical plant in western Russia has come under attack, with regional authorities confirming damage and injuries following a drone incident.
According to open-source intelligence analysis cited by the outlet ASTRA, the Minudobreniya JSC facility in the town of Rossosh, Voronezh region, was struck overnight.
Footage shared by local residents suggests that the roof of a finished goods warehouse caught fire after the attack. Earlier reports had indicated a blaze roughly 4 kilometres from the plant.
The governor of Voronezh region later confirmed that the area had been targeted, stating that a man was injured when a downed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed, sparking a fire on the warehouse roof. The victim was hospitalized with burn injuries.
In addition to the damage at the industrial site, four nearby private homes were affected. Officials said two houses sustained damage to their attics, one had its windows shattered, and another suffered structural damage to its walls. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene and continue to respond.
Minudobreniya JSC is one of the largest chemical enterprises in the region and is managed by Roskhim JSC. The plant has significant production capacity, including more than 550,000 tons of ammonium nitrate and up to 1.2 million tons of nitroammophosphate fertilisers annually. Ammonium nitrate is widely used in agriculture but can also be repurposed for explosives.
The facility has previously been linked in media reports to sanctioned Russian businessman Arkady Rotenberg, though ownership details remain subject to public scrutiny.
This is not the first reported incident involving the plant. On December 13, 2025, Ukrainian drones were said to have targeted the same facility.
