AZAL, DFS aviation services forge key partnership to equip Lachin airport
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and DFS Aviation Services have inked a pivotal agreement aimed at outfitting Lachin Airport, as reported by Caliber.Az citing AZAL.
During the prestigious Passenger Terminal Expo 2024 in Frankfurt am Main, Farhan Guliyev, Director of Air Traffic Management at Azeraeronavigatsia (AZANS) under AZAL, and Andreas Petch, Managing Director of DFS Aviation Services, formalized their commitment to expanding collaboration.
DFS Aviation Services, a prominent entity within the DFS Group, stands as a global leader in air navigation services, with substantial contributions to Germany's aviation sector.
The accord entails the deployment of the state-of-the-art Phoenix air traffic control system at the new Lachin International Airport, underscoring AZAL's unwavering dedication to ongoing advancement and service enhancement.
Renowned for its efficiency and reliability, the Phoenix system is presently operational across six AZANS control towers at various airports in Azerbaijan, including the recently inaugurated facilities in Fuzuli and Zangilan. Moreover, it serves as a backup system for the Main ATC Centre Azeraeronavigatsia.
AZANS and DFS Aviation Services are actively pursuing diverse initiatives under their collaborative framework. Notably, both entities are jointly spearheading the establishment of a cutting-edge training center for air traffic controllers in Azerbaijan in partnership with the National Aviation Academy. Equipped with training materials and standards from DFS Aviation Services, this center is poised to significantly elevate the caliber of air traffic controller training in the country.
