Azerbaijan announces opening date of COP29 Green Zone
The Green Zone at COP29 will start working on November 11 and will be open to the public, Leyla Mahmudova, Head of the COP29 Partnerships Sector.
She noted that the total area of the Green Zone is 37,500 square metres, which will house 56 pavilions, as well as stands of local and foreign companies and the public sector, Caliber,Az reports, citing local media.
“The area will have four conference halls, one for 200 people and another for 370 people. The area will also house 18 bilateral meeting rooms, a catering area for three thousand people and an Extreme Hangout area. Events organised by NGOs, companies and government agencies on climate change and sustainable development will be held here on a daily basis,” Mahmudova said.
She added that the issuance of free tickets to enter the Green Zone has already started through the İticket platform.
The Green Zone, established and operated by the COP29 Presidency, serves as a dynamic forum for a diverse range of stakeholders to come together and contribute to climate change solutions. This space acts as a melting pot, welcoming not only the general public and private enterprises but also media personnel, scholars, youth, indigenous communities, NGOs, civil society, and official Blue Zone representatives.
Participants in the Green Zone have the opportunity to present their innovative ideas, solutions, and contributions towards climate action. Their efforts are essential to the success of COP29 in Azerbaijan, showcasing the collective commitment to advancing sustainable and effective climate strategies.
