Azerbaijan calls for global solidarity ahead of COP29
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, president-designate of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Mukhtar Babayev, has urged global solidarity in preparation for the upcoming conference.
During a ceremony presenting COP29 at the Lachin Climate Action Dialogue, attended by diplomats accredited in Azerbaijan, Babayev invited active participation in the development of the event's agenda. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the preparations, which have been ongoing for several months, AZERTAC reports.
“Today's event is an opportunity to listen to your proposals,” Babayev stated.
“We hope that all countries will show understanding and solidarity in connection with COP29 and, by joining efforts, will become closer to each other, which will help us solve the issues.”
The minister highlighted the multitude of critical topics to be addressed at COP29, expressing optimism that united efforts will facilitate meaningful progress in tackling global climate challenges.
