Azerbaijan establishes criminal liability for disclosing whereabouts of country's troops
Criminal liability will be established for the dissemination of information on the movement or transfer of personnel, combat weapons, ammunition or military equipment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This is reflected in the new Article 284-2 proposed for inclusion in the Criminal Code and discussed at today's session of the Milli Majlis, APA reports.
According to the draft, if information on the movement or transfer of personnel of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, combat weapons, ammunition or military equipment in time of war or under conditions of hostilities is disseminated, and there is no evidence of actions stipulated by Art. 274 (Treason) of the Criminal Code. 274 (treason), 276 (espionage) and/or 284 (disclosure of state secrets) of the Criminal Code, the penalty is imprisonment for 3 to 6 years.
If the same acts have serious consequences, the penalty is deprivation of liberty for 5 to 8 years.
Note: The effect of Article 284-2 does not apply to cases of dissemination of information published by state bodies (structures) on the movement or transfer of personnel, combat weapons, ammunition or military equipment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
