Azerbaijan invests over $3 billion in Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park PHOTO
Resident companies of the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, managed by Azerbaijan’s Economic Zone Development Agency, have invested over 5.3 billion manats ($3.1 billion) in the park up till now.
This figure finds itself in a new tweet posted by the country’s Economy Minister, Mikayil Jabbarov, as Caliber.Az reports.
The companies-residents plan to additionally invest 300 million manats ($176.5 million) in its development.
According to Jabbarov, these investments are intended to create more than 2,000 permanent jobs.
"This year marks the 11th anniversary of the establishment of the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park,” he said adding that industrial parks make an important contribution to sustainable economic growth, non-oil sector development and employment.
He further stated, that the park currently employs over 6,000 people on a permanent basis.
