Azerbaijan, Iran discuss restoration of Khudafarin bridge PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Anar Karimov has met with the Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Ezzatollah Zarghami.
During the meeting, Karimov noted that the relations between the two friendly countries, which have a long history, are based on mutual trust, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Culture.
He also spoke about the importance of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
For his part, Zarghami, expressing gratitude to his Azerbaijani counterpart for the invitation, noted the important role of the media in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.
The parties also hailed the restoration of both Muslim and Christian churches in the historical lands of Azerbaijan liberated from Armenian occupation, and noted the high value for the Islamic world of the cultural capital of Azerbaijan - the city of Shusha. The importance of cooperation in the fight against Islamophobia, which is one of the global problems, was also noted.
Karimov and Zarghami also emphasised the importance of using Iran's experience in the context of the reconstruction and restoration work carried out in Karabakh.
In addition, the officials of neighbouring states shared views on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the joint restoration of the Khudafarin bridge.
The meeting continued with a discussion of issues of mutual interest.
