Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan sign protocol on energy systems integration PHOTO
Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have signed a protocol in Astana following a trilateral meeting on the integration of their energy systems.
The signing was part of the first ministerial meeting on energy involving Central Asian countries, attended by a delegation led by Orkhan Zeynalov, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Energy, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the meetings, Zeynalov highlighted upcoming high-level initiatives under COP29 aimed at transitioning to green energy, including the establishment of a Central Asia and Azerbaijan Energy Investment Forum.
The discussions focused on the progress made and next steps in developing the Azerbaijan-Central Asia-Europe "green energy corridor."
The parties agreed on a Strategic Partnership Agreement in green energy and approved a technical assignment for a feasibility study of the project. The Italian company CESI was selected to develop this feasibility study, and an agreement was reached to create a joint venture involving national energy companies.
Additionally, the visit included bilateral meetings with Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov.
