Azerbaijan, Lithuania discuss anti-corruption cooperation
Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev and head of the Lithuanian Special Investigation Service, Zydrunas Bartkus discussed anti-corruption cooperation in Baku, on November 29.
The meeting was held as part of Bartkus’s working visit to Azerbaijan to attend the regular meeting of the steering committee within the framework of the twinning project “Support for reforms in the system of restoration and management of property in Azerbaijan”, implemented within the framework of the “European Neighborhood Instrument”, Report informs.
The meeting noted the importance of the twinning project, the beneficiary of which is the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office, for expanding and improving the scope of work related to the detection, tracing, arrest, confiscation and subsequent management of property acquired by criminal means, and the need for international cooperation in these areas.
Aliyev emphasized the importance of effective cooperation of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office with international and regional organizations, as well as with the anti-corruption structures of other countries, among which the institutions of the European Union occupy a special place.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Bartkus noted the importance of the bills prepared by the Prosecutor General's Office to improve the legislative framework of Azerbaijan, carried out after the start of the project.
