Azerbaijan neutralizes 25,000 criminal groups over two decades - interior minister

Azerbaijan's law enforcement agencies neutralized approximately 25,000 criminal groups and gangs between 2003 and 2023, according to Interior Minister Col-Gen Vilayat Eyvazov.

He announced this at a ceremony marking the Day of Police, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

During this period, police officers seized more than 35,000 illegally stored firearms from citizens, leading to a significant reduction in unlawful acts.

"On average, 87 percent of crimes were solved, and over 77,000 individuals wanted on various charges were detained. Additionally, about 25 tons of narcotic drugs were confiscated from illegal circulation," the report added.
