Azerbaijan presents alternative transcontinental railway route PHOTO
ADY Container LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, presented an alternative transcontinental route for the timely delivery of cargoes to destinations for the period of repair and restoration works on the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.
The CJSC's press service told Caliber.Az that the new railway-sea connection will ensure the integrity of the supply chain until the repair and restoration works on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line are completed.
Thus, the new route will be used to deliver cargo by ships from the Turkish ports of Derince, Mersin, Alsanjak, Marport and Evyap to the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi.
At these ports, the containers will be transshipped onto platforms and sent by rail to the port of Baku. The cargo will then be transported to the ports of Aktau in Kazakhstan and Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan, and from there by rail to destinations in Central Asia.
