Azerbaijan reveals number of population

The number of Azerbaijan’s population has been announced.

According to the results of the latest census by the State Statistics Committee, as of November 1, 2023, the population of Azerbaijan was 10,172,823 people, Report informs.

The share of urban population made up 54.6 per cent of the total population, the share of rural population - 45.4 per cent, the share of men - 49.8 per cent, and the share of women - 50.2 per cent.

According to the official figures, 2,854 twins, 123 triplets, and 4 quadruplets were born in Azerbaijan in January-October 2023.

The district (city) registration offices of the Ministry of Justice recorded 94,671 births in the country in January-October this year, and the birth rate per 1,000 declined from 12.3 to 11.2 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The share of boys was 53.2 per cent and the girls - 46.8 per cent.

According to the State Committee, Azerbaijan sees decline in death rate.

In January-October 2023, the country registered 50,040 deaths.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2022, this figure decreased from 6.0 to 5.9 in every 1,000 people.

Another report by the State Committee says that Azerbaijan sees decline in number of marriages and growth in divorces.

The Ministry of Justice registered 44,643 marriages and 17,988 divorces in January-October 2023.

Official figures suggest that the number of marriages in every 1,000 people has dropped from 6.2 to 5.3 and the number of divorces rose from 1.6 to 2.1.
